We enclosed the exterior of our deck with barnwood, that we found out by our cabin. We actually asked the farmer what he was doing with the wood pile, and his response was he was going to burn it all. Of course I jumped up and said, wait.. I will take it! The kind farmer said of course, take what you want. I felt I hit the jackpot, well barnwood jackpot that is.. considering we spent $20 a board on the wood at the front entrance. Long story short.. Once again, I put my hubby to work, enclosing the deck with barnwood. This was such a great idea, because at first he was thinking of enclosing it with lattice, and having plywood behind, but that would be such a pain to re-paint in a few years, so I told him..why not use the barnwood on the plywood, and no matter what weather we get, or how chippy the wood gets it will always age well, and look fantastic! And plus the more weathered it gets the better it looks! 😉
